#12566 Assistant/Associate Professor Sustainable/Urban Horticulture

The Science and Mathematics faculty in the lege of Integrative Sciences and Arts on the Polytechnic Campus at Arizona State University invites applications for an Assistant/Associate Professor position in sustainable/urban horticulture. Expectations for this position include: engage in research applicable to your field, teach undergraduate and graduate courses, provide innovative teaching techniques, advise students, and provide service to the unit, lege, and university. Teaching load is typically two (2) courses per semester. Course load and composition is determined by the faculty . This is an academic-year appointment with an expected start date of August 2019. The Assistant/Associate Professor position is a benefits-eligible appointment with tenure implications. Salary is competitive to commensurate with experience.

Required Qualifications:

§ An earned terminal degree in horticulture or related field at the time of appointment

§ Strong background in sustainable/urban horticulture, plant microbe interactions, plant pathology, integrated pest management, urban agriculture, or turfgrass science.

§ Clear potential to secure external research funding

§ Strong record of (or strong evidence of the promise of) scholarly research and publications

§ Evidence of teaching excellence

§ Excellent written and spoken communication skills

§ Commitment to meeting the needs of diverse student populations and/or reaching out to diverse communities


Desired Qualifications:

§ Post-doctoral experience

§ A record of publishing in peer-reviewed journals

§ Strong record of ability to secure external research funding

§ Evidence of ability to establish laborative research relations with industry partners

§ Two (2) or more years of teaching experience at the undergraduate level

§ Evidence teaching on-line and in-person

§ Experience using course management systems such as Canvas

§ Experience working in a laborative environment and across disciplines
